Best wishes in 2009!

Sara was a dog used for experiments for 10 years, before she came to us. Two years have passed since then. She hid in her indoor kennel for the first days. She felt safe there and she didn`t like walking around the apartment. She didn`t like the car and she was afraid of sudden movements. Quite a lot of patience and good will was needed, to make her realize, that only sunny days are in programm from now on. As I watch her now, laying peacefully on the pillow beside me, I can`t help remembering the tender moment, when she, for the first time, came to me and let me scratch her ears.

From that day on, she progressed with large steps. She surprises me, everytime, with how excited she is to meet a four legged friend on walks, and desapite her 14 years, she wags her tail and starts to play. Or how she runs merrily when she finally unglues her hunting nose from the ground and realizes, I called her! But on the top of all, Sara enjoys a good dinner. Even though that has been her “hobby” probably all the time.

Sara is an amazing creature. That is why I wanted to share her story with you. With her joy to live, her excitement about tiny good things, is a constant reminder to me, that despite the worries, heavy workloads and problems one has in life, every single day can be filled with sunshine, if we just let them find theway to our hearts.

Sara and I , wish you , in the name of Vesele tačke loads of sunshine and a

The kittens in their new homes - and for us, something to think about…sterilization and castration

We made a great effort to find new homes for the abandoned kittens. They surely made our days brighter, since they were playing all the time around the house. Even though we got quite attached to them, we knew all the time, that thay would one day soon leave us to move to new homes, since our household already consists of two dogs and two cats.

I will take this opportunity to remind you all, that there are so many, too many abbandoned kittens around! Read more »

Abandoned kittens looking for a home

pict0015.JPGpict0005.JPG

We found two abandoned kittens a few days ago. Somebody threw them by the road in a rural area. They were frightened. WE tried to offer them some water and food first, then we caught them and took them home with us. They are currently enlarging our patry of 4 four legged animal household temporarely by 2 members more. I have to admit, they are very funny. And it is obvious, that they lived so far in a close contact with humans, as they love to be petted.

I urge everybody, who read these words, to contact me, if you know of anyboy, who would take the kittens. Thank you!

After a year of Vesele tačke, our puppies grow into well-behaved ladies and gentlemen…

pict0061.JPGpict0067.JPG

We arranged a walk with the last year`s former student Li, the rhodesian ridgeback and her owner Barbara. Li is now a big girl, or better said a “big bomb of energy”. Like a true ridgeback, she bursts to life in the fields and runs all around. But when Barbara calls, she comes right away and patiently walks at her side, even though her still childish nature hardly holds back, till she has the “off” and is allowed to run again. Read more »

Vesele tačke in Italy!

The bulletin of the Italian Rhodesian Ridgeback Club Konec (http://www.rrci.it/) was published at the end of June. AS they asked me for a written contribution I was very flattered. Especially, since they have asked me for a permanent theme about dog education and behavioural problems. This is a special recognition to my work and me that it is been heard of also over the borders of my home country. If you are able to read italian, this is the article:

I MIEI INCONTRI CON IL RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK (in italian)

Seven month old Simba Astek, a ridgeless rhodesian ridgeback is looking for a new home. He lives with his sister Asia, but the owner is not able to cope alone anymore with both of them at the same time. Simba is lively and friendly, but he is a true teenager and he needs also loving but firm discipline.
